چکیده

A critical point (E) is expected in QCD on the temperature (T) versus baryonic chemical potential (µ) plane. Using a recently proposed lattice method for µ =0 we study dynamical QCD with n f =2+1 staggered quarks of physical masses on L t = 4 lattices. Our result for the critical point is T E = 162 ± 2 MeV and µ E = 360 ± 40 MeV. For the critical temperature at µ = 0 we obtained T c = 164 ± 2 MeV. This work extends our previous study [Z. Fodor and S.D.Katz, JHEP 0203 (2002) 014] by two means. It decreases the light quark masses (m u,d) by a factor of three down to their physical values. Furthermore, in order to approach the thermodynamical limit we increase our largest volume by a factor of three. As expected, decreasing m u,d decreased µ E. Note, that the continuum extrapolation is still missing

The critical point of lattice QCD on the μ-T plane

We propose a method to study lattice QCD at finite temperature and chemical potential. We compare it with direct results and with the Glasgow method by using nf=4 QCD at Im(μ)6=0. We locate the critical endpoint (E) of QCD on the Re(μ)T plane. In this study we use nf=2+1 dynamical staggered quarks with semi-realistic masses on Lt=4 lattices. QCD at finite T and μ is of fundamental importance, s...

A QCD chiral critical point at small chemical potential : is it there or not ?

For a QCD chiral critical point to exist, the parameter region of small quark masses for which the finite temperature transition is first-order must expand when the chemical potential is turned on. This can be tested by a Taylor expansion of the critical surface (mu,d ,ms)c(μ). We present a new method to perform this Taylor expansion numerically, which we first test on an effective model of QCD...

The chiral critical line of N f = 2 + 1 QCD at zero and non - zero baryon density

We present numerical results for the location of the chiral critical line at finite temperature and zero and non-zero baryon density for QCD with Nf = 2 + 1 flavours of staggered fermions on lattices with temporal extent Nt = 4. For degenerate quark masses, we compare our results obtained with the exact RHMC algorithm with earlier, inexact R-algorithm results and find a reduction of 25% in the ...

Several approaches to QCD with two massless quarks at finite temperature T and baryon chemical potential μ suggest the existence of a tricritical point on the boundary of the phase with spontaneously broken chiral symmetry. In QCD with massive quarks there is then a critical point at the end of a first order transition line. We discuss possible experimental signatures of this point, which provi...
